During the last year, Mark Morales has formed a strong bond with the Tryon International Festival. His passion and knowledge of the film industry became evident while working together during the sourcing of top quality film candidates.
Our film festival is different than most, because we strive to reach out for the highest quality films available—and guess what? We get them.
It was during this intense process that we concluded that quite simply— Mark gets it. He understands exactly what it is we are doing on a daily basis. So— it is with great honor that we announce Mark Morales as our lead-off kick starter for the 2017 season. Here is just a little about Mark:
Morales began his career as a ballet dancer, studying with his Aunt Carmen at her school in New Jersey, and then back to back scholarships with Harkness House of Ballet, Alvin Ailey, and Joffrey Ballet. He then auditioned for and secured his first Broadway show, the revival of “West Side Story” and worked side by side with Leonard Bernstein and Jerome Robbins as had his Aunt Carmen in the original. This was followed by a show called “Cats” and then, “Sunset Boulevard” with Glenn Close (including a double dose of working with Sir Andrew Lloyd Webber).. In the meantime, Mark was fortunate enough to have a recurring role in two soap operas: “As The World Turns”, and “One Life to Live”. Mark is thankful for a robust 30 year career that involved traveling the world, and he looks forward to inspiring others to follow their passion just as he did. As they said in “Ain’t Misbehavin”, One never knows, do one?
